Guide notes for Teachers
Day-to-day supply teaching is an excellent way to introduce yourself to teaching in the UK. You will be introduced to a variety of schools and teaching situations and you'll gain an insight into the different ways schools are run. Supply teachers arriving outside of the normal school terms, or who require the flexibility of working when they like often prefer this option. You can work whenever and wherever you like.
Often positions are filled on the evening prior to, or the morning of, the day a teacher is required. You will be asked to contact your agency office between the hours of 4pm to 6pm each afternoon and 7am to 9am each morning to inform the team of your availability. Because day-to-day work requires flexibility and spontaneity we ask that you are prepared for work early and can access travel details promptly.
More often than not daily placements can turn into longer-term assignments, which is one of the benefits of day-to-day supply teaching. If you have enjoyed a particular daily placement be sure to inform the school contact and your Education Consultant in the UK as the school may require you for future work.
